There is an interesting energy battle going on in Vermont as two Canadian utilities, Fortis and Gaz Metro, battle to buy Central Vermont Public Service. Vermont has 0 electric generation from natural gas, but are big in nuclear – 73 % - which scares the public, does not fit Vermont’s 'Green Hippie' image and is the most costly way to generate new electricity. Natural gas is among the cheapest ways to generate conventional grid electricity. Gaz Metro has gas and know-how. The zero will go up quickly if Gaz Metro wins the bid!
