Executive Management

A senior executive with experience as a president, as senior corporate staff, and as an entrepreneur, John has managed start-ups, acquisitions, and mergers, and has worked with companies in transition. He has worked in a wide range of industries in both the private and public sectors. John's contract assignments focus on business planning, facilitation, implementation, and mentoring. He has a special interest in change management and organizational development.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Worked with the President of an early stage, rapid growth, high-tech business in Intelligent Transportation Systems. Developed and implemented a marketing and sales plan to improve access to the US market. Created a professional distribution channel with a sales manager, manufacturer’s reps in all of the major states, and technical support staff for field support and customer service, all while the business was doubling in size.

Developed a strategic business plan to create a private sector partnership between one of the largest public sector municipal electric utilities in Ontario and a private sector multinational engineering and management consulting firm. The driving force was deregulation in the electric energy marketplace.

As Acting President, managed the start-up of a wireless technology business in the entertainment industry. Restructured the business plan and was actively involved in sourcing and attracting capital investment.

As an Advisor to the General Manager, worked with the management team in an Ontario Government Ministry to develop, and gain acceptance for, their first strategic business plan.

Managed a project team to work with the Board to undertake a situation assessment of a manufacturer, to work with the management team to create their first Strategic Plan for approval by the Board, and then to provide interim management support through the initial implementation of the Plan.

As President of a Canadian subsidiary of a NYSE listed international conglomerate, tripled sales, and doubled the return on investment.

As President of an electrical/electronic manufacturing division of a TSE listed company, grew the business through product development, acquisition and start-up.

Owner-Manager of an equipment distribution business, with branches in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Recognized as marketing innovators with industry awards.
