SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Strategic planning: Assigned, by the parent corporation, direct responsibility for the preparation of the 5 year strategic plan on behalf of Squibb Canada Inc. Actively participated, on behalf of the parent corporation, in the formulation and implementation of counter-generic strategies.

Rejuvenation of mature product lines: Initiated, developed and brought to market the award winning Uni-Vials (finalist in the Mercuriades, Gold medal award in the U.S. for packaging innovations), initiated and developed the Dosating Dispensor (metered dose of semi-solids) and initiated the development of a pre-filled, single-use, unit-dose syringe with retractile needle.

Quality and performance improvements: Reduced reject rate from 3.75% to 0.50% on parenteral product line, improved gross profit margins from 28% to 41% on multi-source product line, reduced import tariffs on diagnostic product line, sold obsolete and remnants raw and component materials, exchanged process-obsolete equipment, rehabilitated and sold excess industrial land. Initiated and implemented registration and regulatory approval of pharmaceutical plants. Reviewed and edited the CMC section of submissions destined for filing with Canadian and U.S. authorities. At time of merger with Bristol-Myers, Squibb Canada was deemed to possess a 20% unit cost advantage over their U.S. counterparts.

Pre-commercial product development: Planned, implemented, monitored and controlled numerous pre-commercial development projects both working as an executive of the company or as external advisor directing the efforts of internal human and physical resources or those of multiple third parties.

Materials control and purchasing: Initiated and implemented MAPICS on behalf of the Canadian entity and for subsequent use by sister companies abroad, implemented on-line order entry, negotiated return and credit for obsolete active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), negotiated return of outdated product and chemical recovery of API, negotiated annual blanket purchase orders with split deliveries covering all single-source component and raw ingredients.

Physical storage and distribution to markets: Reduced number of storage and distribution sites in Canada from 5 to 2, thereby lowering internal and external operating costs and improving customer service levels. Introduced next-day delivery across Canada for all orders received prior to 15:00 (EST).
