Chief operating officer for a multi-level complex with a $40 million
budget and major strategist in all negotiations with the Ministries of
Health and Community and Social Services. Secured a $1.4 million increase
in the hospital budget base by directing a coordinated appeal and crafting
a successful rebuttal to an operational review.
Energized the staff of a 450 bed healthcare facility while they faced
drastic reductions in funding. Developed a model of care that involved
major shifts in thinking, in philosophy, in service delivery and related
support services.
Assisted a shaken Board reevaluate its governance role through a time
of great upheaval of management staff.
Prepared functional programs for the development of two mid sized hospitals
in Newfoundland and for a long term care facility in Ontario.
Successfully outsourced departments, creating $0.5 million savings annually
while improving the quality of services and led two organizations through
downsizing, both without union grievances.
Transformed an association to become a strong advocate for the elderly,
to set standards for the industry and to become a leader among North American
peers.
Orchestrated 3 day workshops for over 1,000 delegates, with up to 25 speakers.
