A Canadian public leader who has worked at the local, provincial, federal and international level, He possesses a unique national and international network. His executive experience equips him to work as a “drop-in” chief executive officer or in a mentoring role for senior management. His experience relates directly to government relations, decision making, strategic planning and project management.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

During a 15 year federal parliamentary career, served in Cabinet as Minister in three portfolios. Directed large complex government departments.

Acted as the Prime Minister’s representative to the United Nations General Assembly and the Commonwealth.

Worked with Heads of State, UN agencies re: emerging issues.

Served as head of the Canadian delegation to international conferences and negotiations. Functions included: briefing, directing and representing.

Through civic elected office in Waterloo, Ontario, developed expertise in change and transition.

Access to a broad range of government, business and not-for-profit leaders.

As president of a consulting company, mentored and assisted information technology spin-off companies in planning for financial and human resource needs. Experience in strategic planning and development at the municipal level.

Acted as advisor on transition and changing international markets to a Group Benefits and Health Insurance company.

Facilitated a Joint Venture in Asia for a Canadian hardware components company.

Acted as a mentor to an Alberta venture capital firm regarding entry into the southwestern Ontario market.

Co-founded CUSO, conceptualizing and involving various segments of Canadian society in new overseas service agency.

Chaired a Reconciliation Implement Commission on sexual abuse for the Jesuit Fathers of Upper Canada. (The agreement was a first significant use of an Alternate Dispute Resolution Mechanism).

As Executive Director of a Crown Corporation, designed and implemented a province-wide Manitoba Centennial program with unique collaboration of business, labour and government. Managed an $8 million budget.

Conceived and implemented the 1967 Canadian Centennial “Miles for Millions” program; engaging municipalities, business, the education sector, labour and the media in fund-raising and educational programs.
