CLIENT: Not-for-Profit

CHALLENGE

As a result of the retirement of the long-time Regional Director of a national not-for-profit organization, and a coincident strategic review of the structure and operations of the region, senior management required a strong management presence on an interim basis, pending the recommendations of the review committee.

THE APPROACH

Since a suitable candidate was not currently available within the organization, The Osborne Group was contacted to provide a professional interim executive who could step in immediately to provide leadership and direction to mission delivery and fundraising staff as well as a large volunteer community through a very active spring fundraising season. The Osborne Group proposed a candidate on a three-day-per week basis for six months. Within two weeks of the initial contact, the proposal was presented, accepted and The Osborne Group Principal was on the job.

THE RESULT

· Staff morale was maintained throughout the period of the organizational review and turnover was minimized.

· Communications between volunteers, community partners, regional and divisional staff were strengthened.

· Region-wide mission delivery and fundraising initiatives were undertaken to augment existing organizational capacity and capabilities

· Fundraising revenue for signature campaign was increased by 20% from prior year results.

· In preparation for the upcoming fundraising season, managed the implementation of
  enhanced region-wide critical path planning, broader volunteer engagement and more focused staff deployment

The Conclusion

The contract was renewed for a further six-month term.
