THE CLIENT: Not for Profit Organization

THE CHALLENGE

Due to changes within senior management, a high level review of policies and procedures was requested with the objective of assuring senior management that all internal and external best practices are developed, implemented and followed.

THE APPROACH

Perform an overview of Finance and Administration to provide recommendations to improve performance and to provide better information to the users of information within the organization. Provide an interim Controller until full time replacement could be recruited.

THE RESULT

· Conducted extensive interview process with all users of financial information and reports generated by the department

· Compile suggestions for internal reports and key performance ratios

· Provided recommendations on:

o Shortcoming of information system design
o Lack of staff training
o Discipline on maintaining the system
o Process mapping of current procedures
o Policy review of board policies
o Effective use of existing software being used by the
organization

· Outlined a process to rectify the shortcomings

· Provided a work plan with timelines to allow senior management to address the issues with follow-up procedures
