THE CLIENT: Manufacturing Industry

THE CHALLENGE

Letter of Intent signed with a major manufacturer of transportation vehicles in the United States to provide a vendor managed inventory. Client did not have an operation in the United States, no experience with a complex client as such and no experienced resource to start it up.

THE APPROACH

Provide an interim executive for the start-up phase and recruitment of local staff for the long term operation.

THE RESULT

· Developed US operation on time complying with the agreement

· Developed a contractual agreement between the Client and the manufacturer of transportation vehicles

· Finalized commercial agreements

· Hired local staff to support the long term operation

· Created job descriptions

· Opened local distribution center to support the transportation company and created a platform for the client’s future US growth

· Developed processes and taught resources at the Canadian head office to support the US operation

· Commenced a vendor managed inventory operation at the manufacture of transportation vehicles site

· Created operating procedures and documentation for both Canadian and US operations

· Supported the manufacturing company in an audit of the client for compliance with their quality standards and ISO 9000 - organizations in Canada and the United States were approved, performing all quality assurance components delivered to the US plant

· Responsible for quality assurance and administration of documentation

· Created a program management process for the client’s major accounts

· Created management reporting system for the account and a program review process for on going follow up

· The operation in the United States is developing into a major profitable business unit
