Ian Glen

A proven marketing-oriented general manager with an extensive record of accomplishment and expertise in developing and implementing winning business strategies. Ian is a persuasive communicator, team builder and results-driven operator with a record of growing business in a variety of sectors including consumer products, financial services and healthcare. His negotiating skills and collaborative leadership style have proven especially effective in securing “win-win” solutions with a range of stakeholders, including government and distribution channels.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Directed a strategic planning process and subsequent change management project for a Canadian financial services firm which resulted in doubling of new business and assets under management.

Developed and implemented a crisis management plan resulting from a national recall, including acting as corporate spokesperson with the media and key liaison with government officials.

Conducted comprehensive marketplace assessment, developed the business plan and assisted in launching a leading Canadian web site for personal investors.

Collaborated with industry partners and the Federal Government in the development of a significant new government program, which dramatically increased public participation in education savings plans.

Following the total recall and subsequent withdrawal of a well-known brand from the market, developed the relaunch marketing plan and directed the successful reintroduction into the Canadian market. The brand recovered a substantial portion of pre-recall share of market.

Key member of multi-national team which negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government leading to a substantial overhaul of regulatory oversight of the industry. These changes maintained regulatory protection for the public while improving operating economics of the business.
